So one of my favorite sayings about parenthood is just when you are starting to feel good about it and think you have things under control, they flip it inside out upside down on you. Teddy has been sleeping amazingly. He's been easy to put down, napping great (which has allowed me to nap!) and sleeping from 8-9:30 (don't hate me!). I had plans to transition him to a toddler bed AFTER our two weeks of traveling and beach vacation. Silly mommy...planning is POINTLESS AND FUTILE!

| It all started with this. Teddy didn't just climb out of his crib, he professionally climbed out of his crib. Not a fall, not a bump, just a graceful step, step and out. The escape artist was born! |
So the next day, we went out to Babies R Us and get a toddler rail for the bottom bunk and new Thomas the Train sheets for the trundle bed. We so smartly figured Teddy would LOVE the Thomas sheets and trundle bed and would just go to sleep. We are such great parents.

You know that scared, crazed cry that they do that can break you heart in to a million pieces, yeah that. It was AWFUL. Too much too soon. So we totally backed off and put the trundle bed in the nursery.

Mr. Houdini was not having it. Not only can he climb out of his crib, he can open doors too! Not a problem for supermom...the gate will stop him! 5 minutes later, here's Teddy! Cribs, doors, gates, not a problem for Houdini! Finally we put him down with the gate up, AND the child safety door handles. Take that Teddykins! It took him all of 2 minutes to rip that thing off the door and scale the gate and come pitter pattering into our room. Laughing and smiling. We ended up locking the door and letting him work it out. He finally fell asleep on the floor next to his bed.

| And this was our solution the next night. It's called sleep anywhere you want, JUST SLEEP! Here are his options...The crib with the toddler rail, the twin mattress with Thomas sheets, the blanket next to the floor and after his nap in front of the door, the rug in front of the door. |
I'm happy to report that he has adjusted a little better to his new sleeping arrangement. He hasn't touched his toddler rail bed, except to climb over the rail and bounce on the mattress! However, he has been very creative in his new freedom when sleeping. Here are some of my faces I've captured over the last few nap times and nights.

Other favorites that couldn't be captured in pictures include: In front of the door, above the pillow on the floor beside his turtle, and even snuggled in between the crib and tree where his big stuffed animals hang out!
So the Adventures in Sleeping will continue as we brave this crazy journey of parenthood. I'm continually amazed and humbled by this little man. I don't know how the vacations will play out and what the future holds when New Baby Boy Robbe is born, but Nick and I will get through it together and as always, Teddy will help guide us.
